The Minneapolis-Moline G-VI (1959–1962) was the first of MM’s six-cylinder “big-G” tractors.

Identification & configuration

The G-VI opened the big-G six-cylinder line that ran through the G700s, G900, G1000 and beyond; see the big-G overview.

Factory paint

Per the MMCI paint records, the 1959–1961 G-VI used PG3 (last Prairie Gold) with a Bronz Metallic powertrain and grille and PG3/Silver wheels; MMCI also notes the hood-stripe decals were red on early tractors and black on later ones — a dating clue. See the full paint reference.

What to verify

  • Serial / plate: on the transmission case; decode the serial (ranges below).
  • Hood stripe: red (early) vs black (late) decals help date a G-VI.
  • Don’t confuse the six-cylinder G-VI with the earlier four-cylinder G tractors.
