The Twin City KT and KTA were among the designs Minneapolis Steel & Machinery created just before the 1929 merger — the KTA, with the MTA, evolved directly into the Minneapolis-Moline U.

Identification & configuration

Per the compiled record, the KT (1929–1934, about 2,052 built) and KTA (1934–1938, about 4,542 built) used a 4¼ × 5, ~283-cubic-inch engine. See the Twin City overview and predecessors guide.

Factory paint

Per the MMCI paint records, the KT was Battleship Gray while the later KTA moved to MM-TC Gray (with Cherry Red wheels appearing on 1938 tractors). See the full paint reference.

What to verify

  • KT vs KTA: different serial blocks and years; decode the serial (ranges below).
  • Lineage: the KTA fed directly into the MM U — useful context when sourcing parts.

Sources & Verification Notes

Production figures, engine, and serials per Tony Thompson’s compiled Twin City record (MMCI); paint per the MMCI Paint Committee. No horsepower or production-count figures are asserted beyond what the cited sources state.

Factory Paint Colors

Body, wheel, and powertrain colors documented for this model's era by the MMCI Paint Committee. The exact part-by-part configuration, year breaks, and footnotes are in the full paint reference. Individual tractors vary — special orders and regional exceptions were common, so confirm against your own machine.

Finding Parts

We don't publish part numbers we can't verify against factory literature. The authority for this model's part numbers is its factory parts catalog; interchange is serial- and configuration-dependent, so always confirm against the parts book before buying.
